About us

Since its founding in 1956 as the Council on Library Resources, CLIR has striven to meet the needs of a changing information world. CLR’s earliest programs focused on topics from library automation to helping European libraries recover from the devastation of World War II. Today, through its programs, people and publications, CLIR works to preserve and curate knowledge and develop the cultural heritage leaders of the future.
